Shaban Faruqui, MD

Shaban Faruqui, M.D. is a board-certified gastroenterologist with over 25 years of clinical practice. Doctor Faruqui is a fellow of both the American College of Gastroenterology and American Gastroenterological Association. He completed his residency at St. Francis Medical Center, an affiliate of Hahnemann Medical School in Philadelphia, and his gastroenterology fellowship at the University of Pennsylvania Medical Center. He has worked as Chief of Gastroenterology at both Baton Rouge General Medical Center and Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center, and most recently served as a gastroenterologist at Southeast Louisiana Veterans Health Care System in New Orleans. Throughout his career serving as an assistant clinical professor, Dr. Faruqui has been instrumental in educating medical students and medical residents at the LSU Medical School and Tulane Medical School, where he currently works in the Department of Medicine. Doctor Faruqui has also participated in numerous clinical trials, some of which have been published in prominent medical journals. He was recognized by US News & World Report as one of the top GI specialists in the region.
Doctor Faruqui is trained to diagnose and treat a wide range of digestive and liver diseases, and offers upper and lower GI endoscopy, including small bowel capsule endoscopy, liver biopsy, and PEG Tube placement. Doctor Faruqui is accepting new patients at St. Francis Gastroenterology, Liver Disease, and GI Endoscopy. He accepts all major insurance carriers.
