Inpatient Care

West Feliciana Parish Hospital offers both acute care for short-term stays and skilled care when your hospital stay is extended. Medicare covers this extended length of stay.
Acute Care
We offer patients 22 acute care beds. In these private rooms, your primary care physician oversees your short-term care and can treat a variety of illnesses such as:
- Pneumonia
- Gastroenteritis
- Congestive heart failure
- Cellulitis
- Dehydration
- Urinary tract infections
- And more
Skilled Care
When it comes to longer-term hospital stays, most patients would rather be closer to home, family and friends. Our skilled nursing care and rehabilitation therapy offers local residents high-quality care without having to leave the community. In fact, you will actually receive the same excellent nursing care from the team that cared for you during your first few acute care days. So, if you need an extended hospital stay, ask your physician about healing with us, closer to home.
Illnesses that may warrant skilled care include:
- IV or tube feedings
- IV, IM, SC injections
- Central line care
- Pain management
- Wound care
- Tracheotomy care
- Nasopharyngeal, tracheotomy suctioning
- Insertion and irrigation of sterile catheters
- Dressing changes requiring aseptic technique
- Rehab nursing and training
- Development of Nursing Care Plan and follow-up including outcome and reassessment
- Patient and/or family teaching: diabetes, prevention of disease process complications with strokes; pulmonary and cardiac rehabilitation
- Therapy skill needs may include: physical therapy, occupational therapy, and speech and language therapy
